Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome temporarily store images, scripts, and other parts of websites you visit in order to speed up your browsing experience. This article describes how to clear the cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites you visit.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the menu button and select Settings.
- Select the Privacy and Security panel.
- In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data.
- Make sure both checkboxes are checked.
- Cookies and Site Data (to remove login status and site preferences)
- Cached Web Content (to remove stored images, scripts and other cached content)
- Click the Clear button.
- Close Mozilla Firefox and wait 10-15 seconds and open it again.
Mozilla Firefox (Cache Only Alternate)
This performs a hard browser reload and ignores and cached data.
- On your keyboard, press and hold the Control key while pressing the F5 key at the same time.
Google Chrome
- Click the three dot menu button in the top right.
- Select More Tools > Clear Browsing Data.
- Select the Basic tab.
- In Time range, select All Time.
- Make sure the these two checkboxes are checked.
- Cookies and other site data (to remove login status and site preferences)
- Cached images and files (to remove stored images, scripts and other cached content)
- Click the Clear data button.
- Close Google Chrome and wait 10-15 seconds and open it again.
Google Chrome (Cache Only Alternate)
- Press the F12 key on your keyboard (this brings up the developer tools in a separate window).
- Right click on the reload button in the main menu and select Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
